Domaine Philippe Colin, Chassagne-Montrachet 'Champ de Morjot' Rouge 2021

Flag of France

Philippe Colin treads the line between tradition and modernity from his winery on the outskirts of Chassagne-Montrachet. He established his domaine in 2004, making both red and white Burgundy from across 20 different appellations, but his real USP is his ability to produce outstanding wine with a stronger emphasis on subtlety over power. 'Champ de Morjot' Rouge 2021 is made from 100% Pinot Noir from Chassagne-Montrachet. Juicy, crunchy, and full of ripe fruit flavour; it has vibrant notes of strawberry, juicy raspberry, vanilla and cherry. The palate is firm but smooth, balanced with a good level of acidity and more fruity flavours along with some oak and earth. Drinking well now, but will only get better over the next 5-10 years.
